Ghenh Rang at a glance
Ghenh Rang is a coastal landscape in the south of the urban area. The tomb of the poet Han Mac Tu stands on the hill, and the Hoang Hau and Bai Trung rocky shore lies close by. Since 1 July 2025 Ghenh Rang belongs to the Quy Nhon Nam ward, together with other former city districts.
Han Mac Tu, whose civil name was Nguyen Trong Tri, lived from 1912 to 1940. An official biography says he died in the Quy Hoa leprosy hospital, and that his grave is at Ghenh Rang. The place is a mix of a literary memorial and a seaside walk, so it suits a quiet visit more than a long stay.

What Ghenh Rang costs
Expect either free access to the landscape plus VND 10,000 for the tomb, or a single entry of VND 25,000. Do not add the numbers together.
| Source | What it lists | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Travel article | Free access to the landscape, VND 10,000 (about $0.40) for the tomb, parking VND 2,000 to 5,000 (under $0.25) | 23 July 2025 |
| Price list for Quy Nhon sights | Entry VND 25,000 (about $1), without a clear split between tomb and transfer | Updated 26 March 2026 |
Do not count on free access in 2026. Ask at the entrance what the ticket covers and whether the tomb has a separate fee. Opening hours, children's rules and parking arrangements can change, so check them on the day.

Han Mac Tu's tomb
The grave of Han Mac Tu is the cultural center of Ghenh Rang. The photo at the top shows the poet's monument. Treat the site as a memorial: keep your voice low and dress modestly.
The tomb is on a hill, and stairs are part of the visit. Take your time on them, especially after rain.
The rocky coast: Hoang Hau and Bai Trung
Below the hill lies a shore of rock and pebbles, known as Hoang Hau or Bai Trung. It is also known as Queen's Beach. It is a place to look at the sea and the rocks, not a sandy bay for a long swim. A travel article warns that the rocks are slippery when wet, and that stairs are part of the route.
- Footwear: shoes with a grip, not flip-flops, especially on wet stone.
- Swimming: do not treat the rocky shore as a safe swimming spot. An April 2026 safety report on Quy Nhon beaches mentions rip currents and beach profiles changed by the 2025 storm.
- Weather: skip the shore in heavy swell or after downpours.
After heavy rain
The road south can be affected by weather.
On 21 and 22 September 2026 landslides were reported on the Quy Hoa pass road and on National Route 1D, with clearing work and warning signs afterwards. That was a dated event, not a current road status. After heavy rain, ask your hotel about the road before you set out. National Route 1D runs from Quy Nhon along the south coast to Song Cau and joins National Route 1 again. For the coast beyond, see our Phu Yen guide.
The southern coast also has resorts such as Avani Quy Nhon Resort and Anantara Quy Nhon Villas. Their addresses are in the Quy Nhon Nam ward, not at the central city beach. Bai Xep near Quy Nhon is a fishing village close to the Anantara. Do not confuse it with Bai Xep in Phu Yen, which is a different place.
Planning a visit
Ghenh Rang works best as a short, well-timed stop.
Timing
Early morning or late afternoon is easier on the rocks and the stairs than midday. In the 1991 to 2020 climate normal, February and March are the driest months, while October and November bring the most rain, so slippery stone is more likely then.
What to bring
Shoes with grip, water, sun protection and a small amount of cash for entry and parking. Bring a bag you can carry on the stairs.
With other sights
Pair Ghenh Rang with the Cham towers in town or with an afternoon on the city beach. Both are covered on their own pages.
