Quy Nhon weather in brief

Quy Nhon has a warm coast climate. The long-term mean temperature runs from 23.8 °C in January to 30.6 °C in June. Rain is not spread evenly. The long-term figures put the driest months in February and March, and the heaviest rain in October and November. Vietnam's storm season runs from May to November, according to UK government travel advice.

This is an independent guide. The numbers below come from the Japan Meteorological Agency, for its Quy Nhon station (ID 48870, 4 m above sea level). Two sets are shown and kept apart: what was measured in the year 2025, and the long-term averages for 1991 to 2020. A single year can look very different from the averages, so treat both as a guide and not as a forecast.

Oct and NovWettest months in the averages (491.9 and 532.6 mm)

Some tourism pages call May to September the low-rain stretch, but the long-term figures show September as the start of the wet months. Do not expect the same pattern as in northern or southern Vietnam. The wet season on this coast is the autumn.

Which months for which plans

A planning guide from the figures above. No season guarantees good weather.

February to April

The lowest long-term rainfall, with mean temperatures of 24.5 to 28.1 °C. This is a sensible window for the beach, the coast walks and the towers. Individual years vary: February 2025 was wetter than the average.

Beaches →

May to August

Hot, with mean temperatures near 30 °C and highs above 33 °C in 2025. Rain is moderate in the averages. This is part of the storm season for Vietnam as a whole, so keep an eye on forecasts.

Ky Co →

September to December

The wet months, with the heaviest rain in October and November. Plan for changed days, wet roads and rough seas. Boat trips can be moved or cancelled at short notice.

Islands →

Island boats in autumn

One operator of island tours notes that departures can be postponed in rough seas, especially from October to December. Ask your operator what happens to your booking if the weather stops the boat.

Storms, floods and the sea

Storm Kalmaegi hit the area on the evening of 6 November 2025. A report the next day described damage to roofs, shops, hotels and coastal facilities. It was a single event, but it is a reason to ask whether the beach facility, boat landing or room you want is open.

Heavy rain returns most years. On 9 September 2026, streets in parts of the city flooded, and on 21 and 22 September landslides were reported near the Quy Hoa pass and on Route 1D. Treat dated reports like these as examples of how the wet season behaves, not as the state of the road today.

The sea needs attention in any month. A report from April 2026 describes rip currents, swimmers outside the marked buoys and beach profiles changed by the 2025 storm. Follow the flags, swim inside the marked zone and do not rely on lifeguard cover being the same on every stretch. If your trip continues south, see the weather guide for Phu Yen.
