Getting to Quy Nhon at a glance
Quy Nhon lies on the south-central coast of Vietnam. The airport is Phu Cat (code UIH). Airlines list direct flights from Hanoi and from Ho Chi Minh City, and long-distance trains stop at Dieu Tri station outside the city. Buses run from other coastal cities, and the coast road continues south toward Phu Yen.
This is an independent guide, not run by an airport, an airline, a railway or a transfer company. Prices are in Vietnamese dong (VND) with a rough US dollar value, as listed in 2026, and they change. Before you book, check the current flight and train timetables.

Flying to Phu Cat Airport
The fastest way in, with two routes that airlines document.
Vietnam Airlines lists direct flights between Phu Cat and Hanoi (HAN) and between Phu Cat and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN). Indicative flight times are about 1 hour 30 minutes from Hanoi and about 1 hour 5 minutes from Ho Chi Minh City. Frequencies and fares change with the season, so use the airline timetables for your dates. If you come from another city or country, plan to connect through one of these two hubs unless a current timetable shows something else.
The airport is not in the city. One hotel on the city beach, at 44 An Duong Vuong, lists 37 km and about 45 minutes by road. A resort on the southern coast lists about 50 minutes. Give yourself 30 to 50 minutes, depending on where you sleep and on traffic.
| Option | Cost in 2026 | Time | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Taxi | VND 250,000 to 300,000 per ride (about $10 to $12) | From 30 minutes | Per car, not per person. The price depends on your destination. |
| Airport bus | About VND 50,000 per person (about $2) | From 50 minutes | Ask at the airport about current departures before you count on it. |
| Hotel car | VND 900,000 one way (about $36), one resort example | About 50 minutes | Seats up to 4 guests with luggage. This resort asks you to book at least 24 hours ahead. |
Taxi and bus figures come from an airline travel guide and are rough. The hotel car price is one resort's own rate, not a general taxi tariff. Agree on the fare or the meter before you set off.

By train to Dieu Tri
Long-distance trains on the north-south line stop at Dieu Tri, not at a central station in Quy Nhon. From Dieu Tri you need a taxi or a hotel car into town. One hotel on the city beach lists 12 km and 20 minutes from the station to its door, and a southern resort sells a station transfer for VND 600,000 per direction (about $24) for up to 4 guests. Booking agencies give about an hour for the transfer, so allow 20 minutes to an hour.
The times below come from timetables valid in 2026 and are subject to change. Check the current timetable and the exact train number when you buy a ticket.

| Route | Train | Departs | Arrives | Travel time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Da Nang to Dieu Tri | SE21 | 07:55 | 14:11 | 6 h 16 min |

| Dieu Tri to Nha Trang | SE21 | 14:23 | 19:18 | 4 h 55 min |

Fares depend on the date, the carriage class and the connection, so none are listed here. If you start in Nha Trang or Hoi An, the train and the bus are the usual overland options. Both towns have their own guides on our sister sites.
By bus and by road
Buses run to Quy Nhon from Da Nang and other coastal cities. Booking agencies quote 7 to 9 hours from Da Nang, which is a rough guide only. Many bus companies drop you at their own office instead of one central bus station, so check the drop-off address before you book and share it with your hotel.
South of the city, National Route 1D follows the coast toward Song Cau and rejoins Route 1. It leads toward Phu Yen, which has its own guide: see getting to Phu Yen. Heavy rain on 21 and 22 September 2026 caused landslides near the Quy Hoa pass and on Route 1D, with clearing work reported. After heavy rain, ask your hotel about the current state of the road before you drive.
Inside town, taxis and rides arranged by your hotel are the simplest option. For a day to Ky Co or Eo Gio, many visitors join a tour or arrange a car, because the roads end at a steep final stretch. See the Ky Co guide.

Entry rules for 2026
Rules depend on your passport. Read your own government's page before you book.
German and UK passports
Visa-free stays of up to 45 days are possible under the stated conditions. Entry and exit days both count. The exemption for German and UK citizens was announced for 15 March 2025 to 14 March 2028. The German Foreign Office also asks for a passport valid for 6 months and a printed onward or return flight.
Swiss and Dutch passports
These citizens are in a separate 45-day group, valid from 15 August 2025 to 14 August 2028. Do not assume the same rule for every EU passport.
E-visa
If you need a visa or want to stay longer, an e-visa lasts up to 90 days with multiple entries. Processing is listed as 3 days by one government and 3 to 5 working days by another. Neither is a promise, so apply early and print the e-visa.
Arrival declaration
Governments word this differently. The UK lists a digital arrival card at Ho Chi Minh City airport as recommended and not required since 15 April 2026. The US lists a pre-arrival declaration as required for foreign passport holders arriving by air, up to 3 days before arrival. Check your own government's page for the current wording.
Vietnam bans all e-cigarettes, including bringing them in or using them, so leave them at home.
